Total: 322 bone fragments
Moderate amounts of bone were found in T26 in 2022. In total, 322 bone fragments were found this season. The majority of the bone recovered in 2022 came from deposits associated with the habitation and destruction of the OC2/Workshop structure.
Bone was found within the soil fill of the cuts in the floor. Locus 3 contained 123 fragments of bone, or 38.19% of all bone found this season in T26, contained within the cut in the plaster floor (Locus 2 and 4). Locus 19 contained 17 fragments, or 5.28%, that were found within the curvilinear cut connected to Locus 3.
High amounts of bone were found in Locus 7 within the soil under a section of the OC2/Workshop floor that was removed in 2019. Locus 7 contained 132 fragments, or 41% of the bone found in 2022, in a carbon included soil that may be related to a leveling course related to the construction preparation of the building.
A small amount of bone was found in Locus 14 in a deposit composed of roof collapse from the OCS/Workshop structure. 34 bone fragments were recovered, or 10.56% of all bone found, within the collapse layer. Notably, a tubular shell bead (PC20220030) was found within the roof collapse in the northern extent of Locus 14. Two additional tubular shell beads were also found in T100, directly to the north of T26 (PC20220001 and PC20220002).
All bone recovered in T26 in the 2019 season was animal bone. Most bone appears to be pig or sheep/goat. We await further analysis of faunal remains, which will occur in 2023.
