Description | Locus 10 is a layer of heavily carbon-included dark brown to black soil forming a semi-circular shape measuring 1.00m x 1.48m x 1.26m x 0.30m in the eastern extent of the 2m x 2m section of the trench in the east. This locus sloped steeply from the south to the north, illustrating the slope of a depression found to the north of the OC2/Workshop structure. The soil is a clay and soil mix of medium compaction that is dark in color with frequent inclusions of carbon. A tile along the eastern baulk wall rests on its surface. Locus 10 was not excavated in 2022. It appears to have experienced burning but further excavation is needed to investigate its placement in the chronology of the construction and subsequent destruction of the OC2/Workshop. |
