Description | (Closing Photo for Locus 1 is opening photo for Locus 2). Locus 2 was opened on June 22, 2007. It had tough grey soil with lots of roots and rocks and became smoother as we went down. In the Southern half of the trench, there was more pottery and terracotta than Locus 1. There was an abundance of ceramics, tile, and bone in the Southern portion of the trench found especially in the rock feature. The Northern half lacked this. The rock feature began to appear June 26, 2007. An Iron fragment, a piece of bronze, a chalice in situ, base of a chalice, rochetti, charcoal, and plenty of bone, ceramic, and tile have all been found in this Southern portion, especially within the rock feature, Locus 2. A yellowish soil began to appear in the Northern half, which deemed it Locus 3. *Closing page in cc-7, JAH/JLL II, page 9. |
