Daily Log

Late AM and PM

The day was spent clearing the area intended for the trench and the areas surrounding the trench of organic materials and stones to prepare the trench for excavation.  To the north of the trench (at the top of its Northern wall/side) is a large dirt dump from previous excavation years.  There were (cut) tree branches at the bottom of this dump.  These were moved to the left (west side of the trench) to a large pile of tree branches.  There were also (cut) three branches on the very top of the dirt pile which were removed to the tree branch pile to the west side of the trench.  Plant growth on the top of the dirt dump which would interfere with the transit were cleared and added to the pile.  There is also a (cut) tree brach pile to the right (east side of the trench ) which was pushed as far to the right as possible.  This was done to the tree branch pile on the left (west side), it being pushed to the far left.

At the bottom of the southern side of the trench, close to the road, is a tile dump from past excavation.  This tile dump is exposed to the elements and is not covered by earth.

The day ended by finishing clearing the entire area.  Tomorrow the trench will be set up.  If there is no transit, triangulation will be utilized.
