Locus 5 is the second extension of the original T108 trench. It is L-shaped, extending two meters to the west of the original western trench boundary and one meter to the south of the original southern trench boundary; in total, Locus 5 measures 7 square meters. The soil is dry and compact loam, initially breaking loose into large sized clumps, which are reduced in size as elevation decreases. The soil in this locus included medium sized rocks, of about 20 to 15 centimeters in size, which decrease in frequency and size, averaging about 5 to 10 centimeters, as elevation decreases. The stump along the eastern wall of the extension caused there to be high concentration of roots, varying size and thickness all throughout the locus. This likely contributed to the moving of material around the deposit. The materials found in this locus were heavily abraded, including small sherds of pottery and tile. Tile fragments were recovered throughout the locus, consisting of an average of two bowls per day, while pottery fragments increased in frequency after the initial 30 centimeters or so of excavation. Special finds in Locus 5 consisted of a ridged impasto rim and a handle fragment with a thumbprint impressed into it.

Soil from Locus 5 was excavated using pickaxes, hand axes and removed with shovels into buckets, then into wheelbarrows where it was hand sorted. Pickpasses were thrown in two to three meters at a time. Locus 5 was excavated until a soil change, indicated both by slight differences in color and texture, which demarcated a need to open a new locus. Locus 5 was topsoil and equivalent to Loci 1, 3, and 11. Locus 5 overlaid Locus 10.
