Descriptive Attribute Value(s)
Trench T108 2024
Year 2024
Description

Locus 6 was declared in the southernmost three fourths of a meter and two westernmost meters of what was previously categorized as Locus 4. It also extends about 40 centimeters into the northwestern corner of what was previously Locus 2. Locus 6 was not excavated in this season, as it was opened for the identification of features, or lack thereof. Locus 6 is directly to the south and extends about 30 centimeters south of Locus 7, until the westernmost edge of the trench. Locus 7 is the locus indicative of the possible stone feature in the northwest of T108. Locus 6 had compacted and packed down soil with very few small stones and tile fragments (between 5 and 10 centimeters) scattered throughout it. Locus 6 was just swept with brushes, the powdery gray soil from this action was removed using dustpans. Other than that, Locus 6 doesn’t present any visible features or artifacts. This locus has a stump in the very southwest corner, which was left in situ and was excavated as close to as possible. It also contained some medium sized roots deriving from a stump that was later removed, but had been situated between loci 9 and 10, 20 centimeters south of the southern wall. Locus 6 was opened to differentiate the interior and exterior features of the linear stone found in T108. As this locus is situated just south of the stone feature outlined by Locus 7 and west of the feature outlined by Locus 8, it is likely that this locus is the interior corner of a structure, the space northwest of two possible intersecting walls. Cataloged Finds: None
