Description Locus 56 is the floor of the ‘covered pool.’ This locus was only partially exposed, as only a sondage in the pool was undertaken to leave some of the upper floor covering intact. 3.10 m north south by 1.45 m east west of the floor was exposed, which consisted of roughly three rows of sandstone pavers (not exactly laid into rows, however). The pavers are expertly carved and laid in hydraulic plaster. The smallest paver is 40 cm by 55 cm, while the largest is 160 cm north south and of unknown width. Part of the original construction of the pool, Locus 56 is phased to Stage 2, the main construction of the Bath Complex.
