Description Locus 68 is the leveling course below the upper step of Locus 48, the stairs at the west extent of the colonnaded corridor. The locus consists of small unhewn stones and surrounding soil, creating a level surface for the steps resting on top of it. The soil is a fine loose silt/sand (Munsell 7.5 YR 5/4 brown). Hopefully some of the finds from this locus will help pinpoint the date of construction of this stairway. There are inclusions of pottery, bone, glass, and small stones. Part of the construction of the stairway, Locus 68 is phased to Stage 2, the main construction of the Bath Complex.
