Description | This LOCA is the Special Interest Area for all of the Kato Vayia site. The LOCA represents all of the features and artifact scatters for the area of Kato Vayia. Includes all areas mapped and surveyed by Teams 1, 2, and 3. See DU forms and field notebooks for particulars for each team. This site is accessed by taking the road to Katakali from the coastal highway. One goes through the village of Katakali and continues past Lychnari beach, taking the poor gravel road up the ridge to Vayia. The site is on top of this ridge, overlooking the sea, before one begins to descend to Vayia beach. See Tartaron, Rothaus, and Pullen 2003; Tartaron, Pullen, and Noller 2006; Caraher, Pettegrew, and James 2010. |
