Description Locus 2 is a medium brown, loosely packed soil. A few small rocks five to ten centimeters in size are included in the soil matrix. Many stumps and roots are still present, later removed, and only two of the living trees remain. Terra cotta, pottery, bone, slag, and vitrified terra cotta found. All were well preserved. Bronze and iron found at this level as well, with the bronze enjoying a high level of preservation. When Locus 2 soil was removed, several rock features were revealed, consisting of rocks twenty to fifty centimeters in length collected in roughly a seventy centimeter thick packing. The soil pack was relatively shallow--six centimeters in the northern section and eighteen centimeters deep in the southern section.
