Work begun in Locus 19 with small hand picks, trowels, and leaf trowels. One stone removed from the southwest face of the circular feature. Another stone removed just north of the first stone. Stone removed from just east of the first stone along with associated small stones. Stones removed so far measure 15-50cm in length. Stone removed from the south exterior face. Stone removed from the western exterior face. Stone removed from north of previous stone. Small (10-15 cm)
stone removed from southwest of the interior face of the circular feature. Stones are being removed to better expose the profile of the circular feature, as well as to continue the third 50cm cut into the circular feature. Soil remains medium brown, claylike, and moist–especially under the removed stones making handpicking more difficult than usually. Large (~50cm in length) stone removed from the western interior face of the feature as well as a smaller (~15cm) stone just to the east. Two medium (~20-25cm) stones removed from the northwest face of the circular feature. Material within soil includes small amounts of pottery and terra cotta. Soil is being collected in buckets and will be sorted in the wheelbarrow presently. Stone removed from northwest face of circular feature along with associated small stones.
Another stone just south of the previously removed stone removed in fragments. Fragment of slipped fineware recovered.

Stone removed from northwest face of the circular feature. Work moved to the interior of the circular feature as well as continued along outer face in order to expose the next coursing of stones. Soil sorted into the wheelbarrow, bone and terra cotta recovered. Sima attachment fragment recovered form within the circular feature.

Iron amorphous fragments recovered from the southwest face of the circular feature and saved as bulk finds. Amorphous bronze also recovered from the face of the circular feature and shaved in bulk. Frieze plaque cavetto and dental fragment recovered from within the circular feature.

Soil remains claylike, medium brown, and moist. Material continues to consist of mostly terra cotta east of the possible statue fragment in situ continues to be excavated and a spout connected to the lateral sima has been uncovered. Two fragments of sima attachment fragment recovered along with a sima cavetto fragment.

It was discovered that the potential statue fragment is in fact a large fragment of lateral sima with a spout opening. In order to better define this fragment and the fragment to its east, several more stones are to be removed from the western profile of the circular feature. Before removing stones buckets placed in the trench floor ( Locus 18 ) sorted into wheelbarrows, loose soil on the trench floor shoveled into buckets (which are sorted into the wheelbarrow), and empty buckets replaced to catch soil. First stone of 30cm in length removed from the northwestern edge of the circular feature a second rock of 45cm removed from below the first stone along the northwestern edge of the feature. A third flat stone 40cm in length removed form below the other two. Two last stones, one 20cm in length, the other 50cm in length, removed from the western profile. Returned to
excavating the interior profile and especially focusing on the in situ sima fragments. Soil remains consistent-medium brown, claylike, and moist. While removing terra cotta fragments which are restricting the removal of the sima, a possible fragment of statuary recovered.

A fragment of the sima fragment with an ancient break has been somewhat loosened so one
more photograph is the fragments taken in situ prior to removal. The lateral sima section removed in several fragments (with ancient break). It preserves a feline spout and the attachment for a rosette. Additionally a sima attachment piece removed in several fragments (modern breaks) from directly next to the sima trough. Right after those artifacts were recovered, a fragment of possible statuary (with ancient breaks) found.

Excavation continues in the interior, concentrating on removing a large fragment of cover tile which is restricting the extraction of the other large fragment of sima and a frieze plaque. Soil remains consistent with Locus 19 and is extremely moist and claylike. Because the depth of the third 50cm cut has nearly been achieved some leveling and definition of the western profile of the circular feature carried out. When the cover tile fragment was removed it was found to be a full profile at one end with a chi siglum. Once it was removed, the frieze plaque fragment was able to be removed. It is of the seated figured type.
