Condition For all fragments: Surfaces are pitted worn and encrusted. Large inclusions are visible throughout the fabric. Frieze plaque is comprised of six fragments. Fragment C: portion of the proper right edge is preserved Fragment D: the top edge and back are finished
Fabric Description Terracotta
Munsell Color 7.5YR 7/8 reddish yellow
Description Fragment A: Frieze plaque fragment preserves 2/3 of the proper right banqueting couch, the legs of the figure on the right, the body and legs of the second figure,the table below the banqueting couch, the head of the dog below the table, the cauldron, the servants to the right and the left of the cauldron, and the first 1/3 of the proper left table, couch, and reclining figure. Fragment A joins with fragment B, C, and E Fragment B preserves the head, body, legs, and associated cup of the proper left reclining figure. The fragment preserves portions of the banqueting couch, the table beneath the couch, and two dentils above the reclining figure. Fragment B joins with A and F Fragment C preserves the head, portions of the body, and portions of the banqueting couch of the proper right figure. Three complete dentils remain above the head of the reclining figure. A portion of the finished proper right edge is preserved. Fragment C joins with A, D, and E Fragment D preserves four complete strigils of a banquet frieze plaque, the finished top edge, the finished proper right edge, and the finished back. The strigils max. pres. width is 0.0m. Fragment D joins with C and E Fragment E preserves nine complete strigils, nine complete dentils, one complete nail hail, one partial nail hole, the finished top edge, and the finished back edge. The max. pres. diameter of the complete nail hole is 0.011 m, max. pres. diameter of the partial nail hole: 0.011 m. Fragment E joins with A, C, D, and F. Fragment F preserves three complete strigils, two partial strigils, the finished back, and the finished top edge. Fragment F joins with B and E
