Description |
Locus 13 is a brown clay and soil mixture of medium compaction that represents the top layer of the 2019 excavations where the previous excavations paused. The layer is equal to Locus 1, 5, and 12 and covers the entirety of the eastern extension. Inclusions are composed of many small roots, plaster fragments, tile, and small amounts of pottery. The surface of Locus 13 was uneven with horizontally growing roots and marks from the tarp. The layer contains building materials and pottery frequently associated with fills. The surface of the layer is at the same elevation as the plaster surface in Loci 2, 6, and 14. Locus 13 is a fill layer that extends to the east from the eastern baulk wall of T26. The layer is equal to those which cover the depression and the sloping plaster of Locus 11, therefore postdating the construction of the floor surface. |
