Description |
A layer of heavily carbon-included dark brown to black soil forming a semi-circular shape measuring 1.00m by 1.48m by 1.26m by 0.30m in the southeastern area of the excavated part of the trench before it was extended. This locus sloped steeply from the south to the north. The soil is a clay and soil mix of medium compaction. The soil layer was dark with frequent inclusions of carbon. It was similar in color, compaction, and composition to loci 7 and 8, whose soil was also dark brown to black and heavily carbon included. Locus 18 was a burn layer equal to burn layers 7 and 8. It was associated with the phase directly preceding the construction of the workshop. |
