Phase X
Description Locus 37 is the soil above the intact floor in the west of the ‘colonnaded corridor.’ The soil is a fine brown silt (Munsell 7.5 YR 3/5). The soil had inclusions of pottery, bone, metal, glass, and stucco. Unlike the collapse layer above it, this locus had few architectural fragments. This locus appears to be the result of the disuse of the ‘colonnaded corridor’ prior to its full collapse. With the blocking and dumping in many of the rooms of the complex, the Bath Complex would no longer need to be accessed as frequently. Furthermore, the robbing out of the pavers to the east demonstrate the disuse of this area. This locus is phased to Stage 5, the period of blockage, dumping, and robbing out prior to the final collapse of the Complex.
