Due to rain yesterday evening, Locus 11 currently too damp to excavate. Excavation resumed in Locus 10 , the medium brown-grey claylike soil. Hand picks used to break up the soil, which is sorted and cleaned from the trench in buckets. Many roots still included in the soil matrix, as well as stones 5-10cm in length. Small concentrations of terra cotta and pottery recovered. One bucket sieved, no artifacts found. New soil type appearing in northwest corner A (95E/53S), being traced southward. The soil is a light brown-yellowish color and densely packed. Two buckets sieved, no artifacts recovered. A fragment of vitrified terra cotta recovered from the western edge of Locus 10 .

Locus 10

One bucket sieved, two fragments of terra cotta, less than a centimeter in length each, recovered. The new soil type, the light brown-yellowish claylike soil, uncovered in the entire western two meters by one meter and being traced backward towards the eastern edge of the extension. One bucket sieved, no artifacts recovered. Locus 11 has dried enough to excavate. Hand picks used to lower the level of Locus 11 10cm. Locus 11 is a light brown-yellowish, claylike soil equivalent to Locus 5 and 8 above it. The locus was designated as a new locus in order to investigate the area south of the linear stone feature. May fragments of terra cotta

and pottery as well as several fragments of bone recovered. In the extension, Locus 10 , the new light brown-yellowish soil is now present also in the northernmost meter, being traced southward. Area under the large stumps being cleared of soil in order to get beneath them and possibly remove them. One bucket from Locus 10 sieved, no artifacts found. In Locus 11 ,small flecks of carbon are included in the soil. A bucket from Locus 11 sieved, no artifacts found. One bucket sieved from Locus 11 , 2 fragments of pottery, approximately 2-3cm in length recovered. A bronze fragment, approximately 0.5cm in length recovered. Too small to preserve any shape, so it is collected in bulk. Incised fine impasto rim sherd recovered from Locus 11 .
