AM
Work this morning consists of baulk walling. The Southern wall has revealed a large quantity of terracotta that protrudes from the baulk wall, evidently from the Locus 9 baulk. There is a concentration of stones in the Southeastern corner, as described yesterday, and an additional concentration of stone and terracotta in the Southernmost meter heading toward the Southwest. No stones or large terracotta
comparable to that of the Southern half of the trench have so far been recovered.
After revealing more of the baulk wall and leveling the trench floor, it appears that no significant relationship between the stones is readily visible or discernible.
PM
The afternoon began with baulk walls being trimmed in preparation for the opening of Locus 10 . Locus 10 is characterized by the stone and tile concentration in the Southwestern corner, as well as in the Southwestern/Central-Southern/Northeastern extent of the trench. Locus 10 will overlay Locus 9 . Locus 9 is now closed.
