Morning:
CB 41 was laid out.
Afternoon:
The trench was cleared of leafs and roots. Opening photos were taken. A dirt dump was established ca. 5m north east of the trench, and a tile dump 5m south-east of the trench. Opening elevations were taken.
Elevations:
NE (1.49m) = 28.77m AE
SE (1.45m) = 28.81m AE
SW (1.26m) = 29m AE
NW (1.20m) = 29.06m AE
The north eastern corner of the trench was picked. The soil is a very dark brown, with much organic material and roots. Some small and medium sized rocks present, along with
a few pieces of terracotta. This humus and organic strata is declared locus 1 throughout the trench.
Two further pick-passes were made in the south and centre of the trench. Similar humus and organic material was recovered, with a number of small and medium sized stones. A few pieces of pottery and a large number of terracotta fragments were found.
