  • The Poggio Civitate Excavation Project focused excavations at different locales in the commune of Murlo, Italy.
  • Poggio Civitate is a hill in the commune of Murlo, Italy with remains of an ancient Etruscan settlement. The site has some evidence for occasional human occupation in the 10-9th centuries BCE, and emerged as a major settlement by the 8th century BCE.

    Excavations began in mind-1960's. Results of these excavations help to document Orientalizing and Archaic period architecture, craft production, exchange relations, and other aspects of early Etruscan society.
