Trench Layout:
CB 41 was laid out on the master grid system established for the site (see TT-I, 1991, pg 173). A base line was shot with the transit which was situated at (94S, 1W). On this baseline, the two points (94S, 9 W) and ((94S, 13W) were established. Via triangulation the two other corners (90S, 9W and 90S, 13W) of the trench were established.
The coordinates of the four corners of CB 41 upon commencing excavation were as follows:
NW corner: 90S/13W
NE corner: 90S/ 9W
SE corner: 94S/ 9W
SW corner: 94S/ 13W
A datum point with an absolute elevation of 30.26m was established on a tree located immediately to the north-west of trench.
