Description | Locus 1 is the topsoil of the trench. It extends throughout the trench. It consists of a very dark brown soil, with a large amount of humus and organic material. Some larger roots are present from the stump present in the south-east corner and the stumps in the north-west corner. Some small (ca. 5cm) and medium (ca. 10-15cm) stones were included throughout the trench. Locus 1 rests on a much lighter brown/yellow soil. Fifteen sherds of pottery and about four bowls of tile were in Locus 1. |
