Munsell Color 10 YR 3/3 dark brown
Description Locus 5 is a brown, claylike soil. Its Munsell designation is 10YR 3/3 dark brown. An eighty centimeter wide feature consisting of several parallel linear arrangements of terra cotta fragments and stones ten to forty centimeters in length runs roughly north to south the entire length of the eastern edge of the locus. A few small stumps and large roots are included in Locus 5. Well preserved terra cotta, pottery, bone, vitrified terra cotta, and slag found. Also, well-preserved bronze, iron, worked antler, and worked chert recovered. The soil pack was relatively shallow--between nine and nineteen centimeters deep.
