Description Locus 4 is a dark brown humus layer with organic material hard packed, dense, moist, and heavily included with vegetal debris and both large and small roots. Both the initial and closing surfaces of Locus 4 sloped gently downward from north to south. Four stumps from 30-100cm in diameter present at surface level. Small stones, 5-10cm in length, included within the soil pack. Very small concentration of worn terra cotta and pottery recovered, as well as an iron bar fragment and five fragments of slag. The locus was relatively shallow--between one and twenty centimeters deep. Locus 4 is equivalent to Locus 1 in the original portion of T-87.
