Description Locus 4 is a brown, claylike soil. Its Munsell designation is 10YR 3/3 dark brown. A rock feature consisting of five stones approximately thirty centimeters in length runs from CA 73 south into Locus 4's northern meter before turning westward at a roughly perpendicular angle. Several stumps and large roots are included in Locus 4. Well-preserved terra cotta, pottery, bone, vitrified terra cotta, and slag found. In addition well-preserved plaster, bronze, iron, worked antler, shell, worked chert, and stone tools also recovered. The soil pack was relatively shallow--between sixteen and twenty-nine centimeters deep.
