Description Locus 19 defines a collapsed arch found partially seriated along the edge of the north balk of Trench 97 while excavating at the depth of Locus 9. Five abutting sandstone arch stones were excavated from beneath the 25th arch springer on the west side. The arrangement measured 2.70 m east west by 0.56–0.73 m north south [see sketch of 14/VII/04]. Beneath them was a large pile of architectural fragments deriving from the colonnade superstructure, including several column drums whose rounded sides provided sufficient support for the arch stones to remain articulated upon coming to rest. Distribution of the various architectural elements indicates that the surmounting columns crashed through into the center of the West Cryptoporticus East, landing on the subsurface before the west side of this arch collapsed. The surrounding fill was homogenous to that of Locus 9.
