This morning closing photos and elevations were taken of locus 8 and locus 5 , the gray-brown soil found under locus 8 yesterday seems to be sloping into locus 5 . Locus 5 was declared in the original trench because of the concentration of rocks found here. Now there appears a strip of clay like soil that is mostly devoid of rocks at this level and seems to connect to the new soil under locus 8 . Locus 11 will include the new soil under locus 8 and the rockless strip found in locus 5 . This gray-brown soil has some fragments of terracotta included in the matrix. There is one larger fragmented piece of limestone in the southern part of locus 11 , it is embedded in the soil and so appears a part of locus 11 . Opening elevations, photos and a sketch was done of locus 11 .

Excavations also began in locus 10 . Two pick passes were completed and the soil was sorted by hand into buckets. The soil in this locus is olive-brown and contains many rocks of about 5-10 cm. Locus 10 has a higher concentration of pottery than the other recently excavated loci and also contains small amounts of terracotta tile and bone. Locus 11 continued to be scraped and leveled with trowels. While cleaning, bones and pottery were recovered. The soil continues to be a clay-like brown soil, it is becoming more olive in color. A piece of worked chert (SF #2) and Ridged rim fragment (SF#3) were found.

A pick pass was completed in locus 10 and the soil was hand sorted into buckets. The soil remains an olive-brown color and there is a dense concentration of stones (5-10 cm) in the southwestern corner and along the western edge of the locus. Pottery fragments and terracotta tile fragments were recovered, mainly from the southwestern corner. Troweling of locus 11 continues simultaneously with the excavation of locus 10 . Very little artifactual material is being recovered. 3 more pick passes were done in locus 10 . Soil was sorted by hand and dumped. Soil continues to be an olive-brown. In the final pick pass a fragment of a
fenestrated vessel (SF #4) and a bronze fragment (SF#5) were recovered. The rocks along the northern boundary were defined.
