Work progressed in J0K/81 bringing these meters down to roughly 80 cm.  Soil here, east of the "rock line" at the 80-81 line, is a brownish color - less orange in tone compared to the soil west of the "rock line".  Small bits of carbon exit here, but not in aboundance.  An extraordinary number of terracotta slingstones came out of this cut.  Bronze pieces and iron slag were also found.

At 90 cm in K-J/80 soil continued to contain plaster and tile which gave the earth an orange tint.  The Rock line on the 80-81 line was removed.  And found within it at the 90 cm level was a large fragment of a forno ( 19890152

19890152 ).  This was found in rock pack, sitting on a pack of plaster, with tile fragments around it.  Burned black soil was present around this.  In this same area a bronze tube (?) was found.  As we appproached the large rocks in J/80-81, large pieces of plaster became evident underneath them; tile also.  A strangely curved tile which may be a ridgepole w/a curve to cover a cover tile also came out of this area.  A orange piece of terra cotta w deep impressions was found here.

The 80 cm cut in J-K/80-81 produced 2 latte boxes of pottery, as did the 90 cm cut.  Tiles in the "fall" in L-M/82 have lifted to expose a lower pan tile, which preserves a complete width.  Pulled tiles are being kept nearby in order to look for joins.

The soil in M/85 on which the large pan tile had been resting was cleaned down w/ a trowel.  If the column base in N/85 has a neighboring small stone (outside the row) it would be located here.  With the tile removed we have started to look for such a stone.  Cleaning through blackened soil, several small stones were found.  These are above the level of the column base, so perhaps the "real" stone is underneath these.  However, these stones may also be part of the drainage channel, which begins to dip down in this area.  A few pieces of potttery and tile were also found in the blackened soil.  On other places where the bur layer has been reached large quantities of burnt bone have been found.

K-J/81 was brought down to 90 cm.  The soil is a dark grey-brown.  Several sling stones were found in K/81.  Tile, plaster, and pottery continue to be found.  Part of a rocchetto came out of K/81.  The soil charge to grey is quite clear.  Orange/brown sits on top of this stratum.  J/82 was also brougth down to this level.  Terracotta slingstones were found here, as well.

Tiles were lifted in L/83-84 and M/82.  Small stones were found w/ black burned soil above them in M/82.  This is just like M/85.

One cassetta of tile and 2 1/2 latte boxes of pottery came out of K-J/81 and J/82.  Relative to this morning material has decreased radically.

L/84 produced a fragment of pan tile w/ a letter.
