J-K/80-81 were brought down to 70 cm below surface.  Large stones in J/80-81 were left in situ as were smaller stones on the 80-81 line, which seem to run perpendicular to the large stones.  Soil in this cut is orange/black in color, similar to the soil found in all other meters of this trench at this depth.  One terracotta sling stone and one bronze nail came out of J/82.  One cassette of tile and 1 particularly large piece of plaster came out of the cut.  One latte box of pottery.  One whorl was found in K/81.

Tile fall in L-M/82-83 was cleaned further.  Directly below a large pan tile fragment in L-M/82 (our western baulk) another pan tile w/complete width was found.  Below this a cover tile fragment w/ complete width was found.  The level of these lower tiles is well below the level of the S.E. Building floor.  The drainage ditch hypothesis seems to be plausible.  Photographs of tench were taken.

J/82 was completed down to 70 cm below surface.  A series of small rocks exist between the northern baulk and the stump in K/82.  One terracotta sling stone was found.

The architect drew the M/85 tile and parts of the tile fall.  This tile was lifted and brought to the mag.  The uppermost tile fragment in L-M/82, mentioned in this morning's account, was lifted revealing another tile immediately below.  This means that in this area there are three pan tiles on top of one another an a cover tile below them.  A cover tile in L/82 preserves a complete profile and is at least 62 cm long.  The end of this tile is covered as of today, so perhaps more of it exists.

J-K/80-81 were taken down to roughly 80 cm below surface.  Soil continueds to be orange/brown due to the tile content.  A late box of pottery and a cassetta of tile were found.  An unusually well-levigated piece of plaster (?) w/ 2 flat sides came out of this cut.  The stones in J/80-81 and on the 80-81 line thorugh K were dug around.
