Work commences in the morning with a pick pass through the westernmost meters of the trench to complete the trench-wide pass begun yesterday afternoon. Methodology remains to hand sort soil over buckets and dumped into a wheelbarrow after. Because the weather this morning oscillates between rain sprinkles and no rain, work will consist of controlled pick passes in smaller portions of Locus 8 .

Locus 8 has revealed sufficient numbers of sherds of slipped pottery that now such sherds shall be recovered in bulk. Only diagnostic sherds will be special found from hereon out in Locus 8 .

A second pick pass was made in the easternmost meters of the trench going westward. A third pick pass was made in the westernmost meters to level out the trench as the central meters are

lower. While hand sorting the soil from this pass, a fragment of vitrified terra cotta (Special find #1) was found.

Another pick pass in the west follows. Soil is a consistent mottled brown with gray, white, and black inclusions. Large quantities of both terra cotta and pottery have been recovered. A pick pass was conducted in the eastern meters followed by one in the central meters. Soil appears consistent in color, texture, and artifact content as has been recovered throughout Locus 8 .

The rain has continued enough that the entire trench floor is too wet for excavation. Therefore, work in the trench was closed to the day. Closing elevations for the day were taken.
