Scraped down the trench in an attempt to remove any material which might be contaminating the trench.  Made a very shallow leveling pick pass to remove the last of the Locus 17 soil.  The bnew locus has now been completely revealed and new loci will be declared.  The north meter of the trench west of the stone feature will be designated locus 18 . Locus 18 is characterized by an olive brown mottled soil that is very hard packed.  There is much less material in this soil when compared to the layer above it.  The locus seems to have no modern material in it.  The munsell designation is 10 YR 4/3 Brown.  The area to the east of the stone feature with the coordinates: 1.04m E - 5.68m S, 1.71m E - 7.56m S, .72m E - 7.66m S, .54m E - 5.78m S will be designated Locus 19 . Locus 19 is characterized by a lighter brown soil compared to the Locus 15 soil on top of it.  The soil seems similar to that of Locus 18 but since it is on the other side of the rock feature it must be treated separately.  There seems to be no modern material in the locus.  Its munsell designation is 2.5 Y 4/4 Olive Brown.

The area between the coordinates: .42m E - 6.58m S, .72m E - 7.66m S, .20m W - 7.91m S, .35m W - 6.95m S will be designated Locus 20 .  This area is separate from Loci 18 and 19 because it is possible that the rock feature may have at one time continued through the area and was removed.  The locus is characterized by a lighter brown soil compared to locus 15 .  It has much less material in it and is very hard packed.  There appears to be no modern material in the locus.  The munsell designation is 2.5 Y 4/3 olive brown.  The rock feature with the coordinates .54m E - 5.78m S, .42m E - 6.58m S, .35m W - 6.98m S, .52m W - 6.10m S will be designated locus 21 .  The locus is characterized by large rocks and terracotta bricks on top of other terracotta and pottery.  It contains a dark brown soil with the munsell designation of 2.5 Y 3/2 very dark grayish brown.

Commenced a pick pass across Locus 18 .  Not pulling up much material. Soil seems the same and is still very claylike and hard.  While sorting the soil a buccheroid rim fragment was uncovered (Find #1).  Also, two more buccheroid sherds were uncovered (Finds #2 and 3).  We began to uncover a darker softer soil underneath the current Locus 18 .  We will continue to reveal it tomorrow.
