The entire locus was picked and shoveled. The soil continues to be a clay like crumbly soil. More roots and decayed branches were being found. In one corner a bit of white root rot was uncovered. Upon further investigation denser soil was found in this area. We will pull back from this and expose the extent of the new soil. Another pick pass was done in the north. Soil was shoveled into buckets and shorted into wheelbarrows. A bronze flake was recovered from the soil (SF #5). The southern part of the locus was picked again and shoveled. Soil was sorted into wheelbarrow and then dumped. The northern part of the locus was scraped to expose more of the hard packed clay soil. With the picking and scraping more cut branches are being exposed.
