Hand picks were used to lower the surface of the trench. The soil is becoming lighter, less compact and contains less organic matter like topsoil. Due to this, it was decided not to use the big pick in order to not damage any possible floor surface or rocks which may be part of the T-70 Locus 2 rock formation.

Due to this change in soil colour and texture it was decided to declare a new locus across the area of locus 4

Locus 5 opening elevations:

NW corner: 0.39m BD/ 27.18m AE

NE corner: 0.39m BD/ 27.18m AE

SE corner: 0.42m BD/ 27.15m AE

SW corner: 0.44m BD/ 27.13m AE

The level of Locus 5 was lowered using hand picks and trowels. One medium-sized rock roughly in line with the linear rock formation in Locus 2 of T-70 has appeared in the southwestern corner of Locus 5 . The soil is exceptionally loose and not compacted. There is a large root running from the northeastern corner of the extension, where the large tree is located, to the northwestern corner. Beneath this root, a large amount of white root rot was uncovered, which may be contributing to the light brown colour appearing in the region. However, further excavation will be conducted in order to clarify this.

Locus 5 end of day elevations:

NW corer: 0.46m BD/ 27.11m AE

NE corner: 0.40m BD/ 27.17m AE

SE corner: 0.49m AE/ 27.08m AE

SW corner: 0.48m BD/ 27.09m AE

Locus 5 summary of finds:

Terracotta: 20 pieces (not covering the base of the bowl)

Pottery: 4 pieces

Bone: 1 piece

Locus 4 summary of finds:

Terracotta: 4 pieces

Pottery: 0 pieces

Bone: 0 pieces
