pottery = 111 latte
1. Continued 85-90 cm cut over meters M-O/69-70. M/70-69 and the northern 1/2 of N/70-69 are at this level very burnt. 95% of the material is completely burned and 5% is only discolored maintaining possibility that this is disturbed still at this depth. Other squares in the cut preserve a soil that is essentially that of the above cuts. In O/71-70 soil is that mottled medium brown w/ plaster flecks and charcoal. O/69 has the reddish cast and is less mottled.* A large pithos cm frag removed from O/69. In burnt layer in M/71-69, there is a large amount of bone. 3 1/2 dz pieces of bone.
*also of note is that fine ware concentrations in this reddish soil seem to increase significantly

tile = 1 1/3 cassetta
pottery = 1111
2. Started another 20-25 cm cut across meters M-O/68-66. Soil at this deph is a slightly darker medium brown than previous cut. A few pieces of charcoal were noted in 68-67.
Of particular note is the significant amounts of pottery that came out of M-O/68. this is a significant increase over recovery in M-O/71-69 at similar depths. As this cut ends we are just beginning to get mottled soil w/ plaster/charcoal inclusions. M-O/68-67 produced 1 1/2 doz. unworked bone frags.
tile = 1 cassetta
pottery = 2 latte
3. 10 cm cut started in M/71. Soil is still definitely burned - very dark brown black. Cut terminates on top of soil change to a non-burned grey/olive soil. Lots of tile/pottery for 1x1 m area. Tile was mostly small pieces - occasional large piece. Pithos frags also found. Bone is abundant - 2 dz pieces.

4. Cut extended to N/71. SEE PM entry.
tile - 1/2 cassetta
pottery - 1/2 latte
5. mesti cut out of 5-10 cm taken in O/69 where high proportion of joinable fine ware frags were found sitting in a reddish soil. This remaining soil was in a dish shaped lens that covered southern 3/4 of O/69. Most of the pottery was orange frags.
tile - 4/5 cassetta
pottery - 1 1/3 latte
6. 20 cm cut taken in O/66. Soil in this cut is less noticeable red then in above cuts. 2 small frags of bronze came out of this square. Possible ivory flecks as well. Cut extended to N/66 and M/66. Soil in these squares is a darker brown and contains flecks of charcoal. A few flecks of bronze were recovered in these meters as well. O/66 had 1 dz pieces of unworked bone.
Pottery is mixed impasto, orange and bucchero.
P.M
tile - 4 frags
pottery - 1 latte
7. 10 cm cut taken in N/71. As one moves south, the burn layer lowers until at division of O/71 you are just hitting top of burn layer at 105 cm deep. As result less of the burn layer was lifted and finds are likewise less. 8 pieces unworked bone.
------
tile = 1/3 cassetta
pottery 1 1/3
8. cut extended to O/71. Again the burn layer seems to dropping off and is only encountered in northern 1/2 of O/71. Southern 1/2 continues soil type of above cuts.
