Pick pass in western most meter strip of trench through top soil revealing the new soil type. Trench cleaned of loose dirt. Whole picked area scraped down to clear topsoil remnants and roots clipped. Cleared remaining humus organic layer from around and in the stone packing. Cleaned, clipped, and sparingly brushed entire trench for photographs and new locus declaration.
Declared and photographed Locus 2 . Opening elevations:
NW corner: 28.46m A.E.
NE corner: 28.36m A.E.
SE corner: 28.52m A.E.
SW corner: 28.48m A.E.
Center of rock formation: 28.46m A.E.
Locus 2 medium brown clay like soil, mottled with a yellowish brown clay soil in places. Rock packing has rocks 6-9cm long and some terra cotta pieces included. Collection to be drawn. Pick pass begun in eastern most meter strip avoiding the rock packing, 4-6cm deep. Soil type consistent with Locus 2 and 4-6cm long stones found in soil, but no regular pattern. Loose dirt cleaned.

Second pick pass begun in southern most meter strip, 4-6cm deep. Soil type consistent with Locus 2 . Dirt sorted and cleaned. Pick pass in last western most meter strip avoiding stumps and rock packing. Dirt sorted and cleaned. Another pick pass done in eastern most meter strip to level trench. Dirt sorted and cleaned. Still medium brown claylike soil with some yellow mottling, especially around the tree roots, as well as 4-6cm long stones. Roots clipped over whole trench.
