Lithic Analysis:

Sixteen fragments of significant stone were recovered from T 62 during the 2015 excavation season. 20150055 is a large fragment of worked stone of the dimensions 1.004m in length, 0.555m in width, and 0.355m in height. This artifact was recovered from the bottom of Locus 19 , and therefore was among the first items to be deposited in the well. The stone is broken both horizontally and vertically, but preserves a finished face with a molded edge below which an incised line runs parallel to the molding. At first visual inspection it appears to be travertine in fabric, but further analysis is required. Additionally, while the function of this pieces is not readily apparent, its form suggests that it may have been a large platform object, possibly a piece of furniture, a statue base, or, most probably, an altar. 20150070 is a fragment of possibly worked stone which preserves two parallel incised lines. Other fragments of potentially worked stone were found in Locus 19 , the well's interior, but none were cataloged.
