Sounding officially closed because bedrock found over the whole area. Closing elevations taken:

NW corner: 27.57m A.E.

SE corner: 27.67m A.E.

Returned to excavating Locus 4 to its extent. Pick pass done over whole area of Locus 4 . Soil sorted and cleared. Soil consistent with Locus 4 medium brown with heavy carbon inclusion. Shortly under surface found bedrock sheets, so continued using trowels to excavate out all Locus 4 soil. In cleaning found more pieces of the loom weight from yesterday (pg 117) to be sent to the magazine. Also found 18 pieces of possibly associated coil made pottery.

Continued troweling to excavate out all the Locus 4 soil. All Locus 4 soil removed down to bedrock or to surrounding yellow soil. Trench cleaned and photographs taken. Closing elevations of Locus 4 taken:

Began clearing brush in a 5x5m area off the northwest corner of CA 62 to determine whether another stone packing feature might exist on a diagonal area between CA 62 and CA 42N.

Continued clearing off the northwest corner to expose the humus layer. 3x1m trench shot off the northwest corner of CA 62 for a 15cm exploratory cut. Trench designated CA 62 extension. Trench layout and coordinates: drawing
