Tile: 8 Pottery: 4

The bulk between meters T/U - 82-74 was taken down to floor level. The soil of this bulk can best be described by the sections drawn . The bulk produced 5 cassetta of tile and 1 box of pottery. The floor extended beneath the bulk except in meter U-78 where there is an apparent break in the floor. Imbedded in this break beneath the bulk were ar keast 2 large stones (30cm x 20cm, approx.) which were left in place. Also beneath the bulk in U-77 was an area, ~20cm X 20 cm of black burn just above the floor.

Meters U,V,W - 65-67 were mapped out and the topsoil removed. A bulk, ~20cm in width will be left at the U,V,W - 67/68 border. The topsoil was generally dark and rooty and when removed the trench was at a depth of ~10cm. A cut to ~40cm was begun in U,V,W - 67 and was extended into U,V,W - 65. The cut is ~30xm in W-67-65 adn ~40cm in U-67-65. The soil of this cut is light brown-yellow, similar to that encountered in U,V,W - 70-68 of note is a concentration of pithos fragments - rim, body, and base - at 30-40cm

thorugh U,V,W-66. The pithos fragments were intermixed with tile and ridgepole. At least 4 different types of rim were recognizedd and it does not appear to be one isolated pithose but a concentration of fragments from a number of pithoi. Altogether, ~2 cassetta of pithos fragments were collected. (These were not counted as tile cassetta).

The unfired covertiles at ~50cm in U-70 were covered with sand for protection.
