| Description | Locus 1 is a dark brown humus layer with organic material hard packed, dense, moist, and heavily included with vegetal debris and both large and small roots. Both the initial and closing surfaces of Locus 1 sloped gently downward from north to south. Eleven stumps from 5-60cm in diameter and three trees 10-20cm in diameter present at surface level. Small stones, 5-10cm in length, included within the soil pack. Very small concentration of worn terra cotta and pottery recovered. The locus was relatively shallow--between zero and seven centimeters deep. Locus 1 is equivalent to Locus 4 in the extension of T-87. |
