Description The Munsell color of the soil Dusky Red 2.5YR 3/4 was predominately a sandy sedimentation with small stones on the surface bleeding into a more homogeneous soil with some inclusions including roof tiles, mortar either in clumps or facing from walls, and large ashlars that had collapsed from the side walls. Few carved decorative elements were present. This type of deposit resulted from destruction and collapse. Intermittent episodes of burned debris probably from wooden construction support beams were also found above a sandy soil, consistent in Munsell color that covered most of the stairway architecture. Had it not been for this cushion of sand, much greater attrition of the architecture would have taken place. The collapse covered all but the tops of the walls. This soil is homogeneous and there is no color or change in consistency until the steps are uncovered where the soil tends to be cleaner as if accumulated by abandonment. Just above some of the pavers there is an ash lens, which was probably created by the burning of wood support.
Combined with None.
