Description | Locus 3 extends over the entirety of the northern and western extensions made to CA-82 on 05/07/2013, which extend the trench a meter north and a meter west, forming an 'L' shape along the northern and western edges of the original trench. The soil is similar to that of Locus 1, in that it is very coarse and dry in texture, and has clay-like qualities to it; coming up in hard packed chunks that are difficult to break apart. It is dark in color. Roots are plentiful through the soil, as are small and medium sized rocks. Decaying organic material is also present. Some terracotta is found that is medium in size, particularly in comparison to that of Locus 2 finds. Some pottery and bone is found. Medieval and possibly modern material is found in Locus 3. |
