Description Locus 15 is a contextualized yellowish to medium brown, densely packed, claylike soil. The first 5cm are extremely hard packed due to being still moist below the tarp and backfill of 2014 season and then becoming dried out and cracked by exposure to the sun during the excavation of Locus 14. Locus 15 contains a high amount of roots and other organic matter, with many fragments of carbon included in the soil. Additionally, a high concentration of moderately worn terra cotta tile, pottery, and bone is present. Cataloged artifacts include two fragmentary spindle whorls (20150013, 20150027), two rocchetti fragments (2015002, 20150006), fragment of conical bronze (20150001), large fragment of slag (20150016), and a diagnostic bone fragment (20150039). Locus 15 is a continuation of Locus 12 (AEG VIII), which was unable to be fully excavated due to an excessive amount of rain in 2014.
