Descriptive Attribute Value(s)
Tentative Date Early Bronze Age I
Designator Fill
General remarks This is the hard white clay area that was bounded on the top and sides by the fake virgin soil. At first I thought it could be a wall as it looked bricky, but it was only a few centimeters high and placed directly on top of the soft, organic ash layer L 9006. It may turn out to be part of a wall system if the alternating bands of fake virgin soil and gray clay in the sounding walls indicate a structure. The area was well documented with photos, but removed as fill.

Has note Contexts excavated in trenches were recorded using the "locus system." A locus is any discrete three-dimensional entity excavated in a trench. The key to the locus system is the recognition that a locus is any one thing. Differences in soil composition or texture are therefore as important as, for example, the difference between a pit and a wall. If two entities were distinct, they were considered separate loci and were therefore assigned separate locus numbers. It should also be noted that every context excavated in a trench was given a locus number and thus the trench itself is made up completely of excavated loci.
