Hot day.

• J/27-28: 3 boxes of tiles
• D-F/27-28: 3 boxes of tiles

Worked in grids J/27-28 and D-F/27-28.

Profile D-F/22-23 drawn ( see p. 137 ).

J/27-28: Remaining part of lowest layer down to "batuto" surface is removed.  In J/27, this surface is found; in J/28, it is not as clearly established.  Some tiles (small fragments) still being seen on same level.  Quite a few tiles from J/28, contrary to upper level of yellow stratum here, but very few bones.  Some finds, among them two pieces of gorgon antefix which fit to gorgon fragment from p. 149 .

Area F-D/27-28:

In two cuts, we work down to a level ab. 30-40 cm below previously dug level.  No stones of middle size or above are lifted.  Fairly compact small-stone pack in E-F/27-28; D/27 and western part of D/28 is free from stones.  Earth here yellowish, hard.  Not much tile or pottery; a few finds, among them a nearly complete gorgon antefix in E/27, on a high level, in the imddle of stone fill here.  Two gorgon fragments in F/28.
