STRATEGY: 1. Excavate 1519 (spit beneath 1518). 2. Define 'wall' in the NE corner. 3. Define plaster patches.

SUMMARY: 1. Definition in the NE corner revealed that we do have a wall (f604) and indeed it appears to be sitting on top of another, earlier wall (f605). The top wall has two clearly defined sides to it. These walls are to be planned tomorrow. To the north of the top wall there is a burnt patch containing legume seeds. This is to be excavated and sampled as a hearth (f606) (see sketch for the relationship between the walls and hearth). This NE excavation is given lot 1521. There was pot, bone and flint discovered in this lot. Some grinding stones were found in the tumble from the top of wall f604 which, before excavation, hid the southern face of the wall. 2. Excavated 1519, which included the rest of the trench. The stones in the NW quadrant appear to be tholos shaped (f607: see sketch). The plaster patches in the SE corner appear to be fallen lumps of plaster and the plaster in the southern section is circulat in orientation and seems to be a pit (f608), which we will excavate tomorrow (see sketch). 1519 finds include pot, bone and flint (3cm spit today).
