STRATEGY: 1. Plan features 604-608. 2. Photograph f604 and f605. 3. Excavate hearth f606 (fill is 1520). 4. Excavate another spit of 1519. 5. If there is time, excavae pit f608 (fill is 1522).

SUMMARY: 1. Swept entire trench and photographed features 604-607. These, along with f608 and the plaster lumps in the SE quadrant were planned. 2 Excavated 1520 (hearth fill from f606). Took 6L (entire deposit) for flotation (whole earth sample). Stones in the bottom of f606 could be a continuation of f605. 3. Excavated 1522 (pit fill from f608). Tried to trace plaster walls but this proved difficult. They seem to disappear after about 5cm and I couldn't find the bottom of the pit. Took 20L for flotation (whole earth sample). Will try to find the pit cut tomorrow. Found stone bowl fragment (sf55). SE corner is very orange and clay-like in patches. Also some small charcoal lumps. 4. Began another 3cm spit from 1519. Stone bowl fragment found. 5. f604 to be removed tomorrow.
