The day today began with a pick pass done through the 2m x 1m strip running along the southern wall. Dirt will continue to be picked with hand picks, sorted into buckets by hand which are then dumped into a wheelbarrow which is then deposited into a dirt dump directly to the south of the Medieval road. The soil continues to be full of roots and small rocks. Large rocks will continue to be avoided. Once the dirt from that pass
was cleared, a second pick was conducted through the 2m x 1m strip directly to the north. Large rocks will be avoided, special attention will be paid to tree roots in an attempt to clear the dirt so they can subsequently be removed from the trench. Large pieces of tile are present in the soil and a high quantity of pottery is also present. The soil has a lighter brown color and is loosely packed. A yellower clay is beginning to become apparent in small pockets. Once the loose dirt was sorted, a third pick was completed through the next 2m x 1m strip, still moving to the north. The soil continues to be full of large terracotta and pottery sherds. It has been decided that the wall between T-75 and T-76 will come down. While cleaning the baulk wall, a modern plastic implement was found but given the nature of the topsoil, it will not be kept. After that pick was cleared, a fourth pick pass was
completed through the northernmost 2m x 1m strip running directly parallel to the north wall of the trench. While picking, it was apparent that Locus II was coming to the surface. While clearing the pass, a piece of slag (Special Find #1) was found.

Shortly after, a second piece of slag (Special Find #2) was found.

It is interesting to note that the two fragments of slag found yesterday were also located in the northernmost extent of the trench. After the dirt was cleared and coordinates taken, another pick pass was begun starting in the southernmost extent of the trench measuring in a 2m x 1m
strip. Large rocks continue to be present in the northern half of the trench and will continue to be avoided. Light leveling of the trench and root clipping was done in the short time before lunch. While leveling, a gorgon fragment (Special Find #3) was uncovered.

Once the dirt from that pick was cleared, a second pick was done through the 2m x 1.5m extent just north of the previous pick. While clearing the soil, a sherd of incised pottery (Special Find #4) was found.

After the pick was cleared, general leveling of the trench floor, baulk walling and root clipping the stump running along the northwestern wall was trimmed in order to break down the wall in the northern section between T-75 and T-76. While leveling, a piece of slag (Special Find #6) was found.
