Slag Analysis

66 fragments of slag, weighing 260 grams, were recovered from T 62 in the 2015 excavation season. The greatest number, 28, came from the soil of Locus 19 which was wet sieved, but because they were such small fragments they did not register a weight on the scale. One large fragment of slag, 20150016

20150016 , was cataloged along with a crucible fragment, 20150029 20150029 . The small concentrations of metals and slag may be due to the nearness of T 62 to the section of Civitate A twenty meters to its west, which is associated with small scale metal production.
