A.M.
Work began with a pickpass, starting in the northern half of the trench and moving south. Soil continued to b brown and sandy; however, patches of gray soil began to appear, particularly in the northeast corner and center of the trench. Furthermore, the appearance of pottery is less frequent. Due to the soil and diminished amount of pottery, we anticipate a soil change fairly soon.
Soil continues to be shoveled directly into the wheelbarrow and sorted there.
The pickpass was completed and another was begun. Half a pickpass was made in the northern half of the trench and for the remainder of the morning, the baulk walls in the northern half of the trench were trimmed.
P.M.
Baulk walls continued to be trimmed, both in the northern and southern halves of the trench. This was done for the remainder of the afternoon.
