T6E(1)

The third layer was taken off and the plan of the building on T6D was clarified.  The N wall is best preserved in the NW corner of the trench, but can be followed all the way through the grids S 8-21.  It has a width of ca 0.90 m.  An outcrop of bedrock sticks up over the level of the wall at grid R12.  At ca 3.70 m N of the wall there appeared 3 clusters of stones of the same type as those in

T 8 ( see plan p. 20 ).  The distance from center to center is ca 3.50m ( see p. 105 ).  Immediately  W (0.5 m gap) of the western-most stone circle there is a line of stones standing on an edge and preserved for about 2.15 m.  What might be an interior crosswall appears at 5.55m W.  It lies right next to an outcrop of bedrock.  At 12.15m W a spur wall appears which has a W. of 1.30m.  it ends abruptly and there were no remains of stones N of it which would indicate another stone foundation.  The distance to the wall and the equal spacing between them suggests that they are related to the foundations in T8 and can be called foundations for columns.

Sherds were frequent, and 6 boxes of tiles were dumped.  One sima head was found in O 9, fragments of procession frieze and sima (cavetto) in N 10.

One paw attached to part of a curved base (ridgepole tile) was found in the topsoil along the wheel-barrow path leading S from T6D-E.
