A.M.

Work began with leveling in the southern half of the trench.  The southeastern portion, which had been lowered with a pickpass yesterday, was leveled with trowels.  A new pickpass was begun in the southwestern corner moving toward the center; sorted proceeded into buckets.

The soil remains mottled, but with heavier carbon in the southeastern half and an increase in galestra-like soil inclusions.  Pottery and tile were still relatively scarce, though with an increase in bone sherds.  Rocks were present in the southeastern portion, and leveling continues to see if they lie at a simimlar level to those present in the northern half of the trench.

After another partial pickpass, more rocks were uncovered in the southwestern portion of the trench.  Material remains relatively scarce, but with sharp edges; there is also a decent amount of burned material and one vitrified bone.

A pickpass was done in the southern portion of the trench and the dirt sorted into buckets.  The soil remains very mottled, with many carbon inclusions and lots of charcoal and bone.  In addition, rocks present in the southwest corner of the trench were defined.

Once all hte dirt was collected and sorted, the north baulk wall was trimmed in order to better see the stratigraphy and to search for another piece of the potnia theron strut which may be in the area.
